Neem – Indian Heal All Herb

In India the Neem tree is variously known as “Divine Tree”, “Heal all”, “Nature Drugstore” and “Village Pharmacy”. Neem (Azadiracta indica) is one of the most powerful blood-purifiers and detoxifiers in Ayurvedic usage. It is widely used with nearly all types of Pitta and Kapha imbalances. Neem is bitter and very cooling. To offset its Vata aggravating qualities it can be combined with other herbs.
Neem oil or neem leaf decoction is used topically to heal wounds, as antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral remedy.

Neem powder, taken internally, has proven medical properties, being anti-helmintic, anti-diabetic and anti-infertility. It improves circulation, digestive, and urinary system.

It is used for skin care as hair and face masks, massage oils, cleansing powders, and scrubs.

In India Neem in Sesame oil is used for healing chronic and acute lesions, bacillary dysentery, Pitta type fevers, boils and carbuncles, and as a sunscreen and an insecticide.

TODAY’S TIP: Although neem oil has a strong onion like odor its wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties make it #1 in my medicine cabinet.
