Caution: Check your Face Expression
All of us know individuals who are always in good mood no matter what happens in their lives. There is also the opposite kind of people: they always expect bad things to occur even when the sky is cloudless. Holistic systems such as Ayurveda and Chinese medicine have known for centuries that our inner world can make us healthy or sick depending on our life attitude.
The Western medicine has started to acknowledge that fact as well. Various researches in molecular immunology show that moods and emotional responses influence the kind of neuro – chemicals the brain makes deep within itself. Those chemicals routinely circulate in the bloodstream, bathing every cell in the body with the message from the mood and emotions. Every cell wall in our body has receptor sites designed to accept the chemical messengers that one consciously or unconsciously sends to oneself. Then each cell reacts according to these instructions.
Not the formal events of your life count but how you process them in your inner world. Negative mental patterns and emotional pain processed destructively impact people over time. Even subtle disturbances of a mental, emotional, or spiritual nature lasting for a long period of time will cause a disease in physical form. Body symptoms emerge after years of disturbed moods, negative behaviors, deadening expressions or actions.
I was surprised to discover that Chinese medicine considers a habitual frowning to be a possible pathway to cancer. Just think about it. If we can provoke a disease through negative face expression, we surely can cure a lot of issues by smiling and laughing.
TODAY’S TIP: Forced laughter like in “laughing yoga” classes doesn’t count. The facial expression should be natural and express our inner conviction that we are taken care of.
