Vedic Science Operates with Values Unknown to Modern Man
Modern science lives under the impression that it is at the peak of progress, which was unthinkable for the stupid savages of old times. But just look at the measures of time that are mentioned in the five thousand year old Vedas. These people do not at all look like backward savages.
Their smallest measure is equal to a quarter of the time it takes to blink, and the largest is Maha-Kalpa (the life of Brahma) lasting 311,040,000,000,000 human years.
Various time scales.
Here is the entire list of time scales used in the Vedic tradition of counting:
1 truti (atom) is referred to as a quarter of the time it takes to blink = 29.6296 microseconds
1 sresarena (hexate) = 6 atoms
1 rub = 18 atoms = 3 resare = 8 \ 13500 sec = 0.000592593 sec
1 vedhu = 100 Truti = 8 \ 135 sec = 0.0592593 sec
1 lava = 3 vedhu = 8 \ 45 sec = 1,777778 sec
1 nimesha = 3 lava = 8 \ 15 sec = 5.33333 sec
1 kshana = 3 nimeshi = 8 \ 5 sec = 1.6 sec
1 kashtha = 5 kshan = 8 sec
1 laghu = 15 kashthas = 2 minutes
1 nadike (dande) = 15 laghu = 30 minutes
1 muhurta = 2 dands = 1 hour
6-7 dands = 1/4 of the day or night
1 prahara = 6 dands = 3 hours
1 yama = 4 praharas = 12 hours
2 pits = 1 day
1 paksha = 15 days half a month (light or dark)
2 pakshas = 30 days = 1 month = 1 day on the planets of the Pita system
1 season = 2 months
1 ainam = half a year = the sun completes the transition from south to north
1 ahaini = 2 ainu = 1 Earth year = 1 day on the planets of the demigods
1 year of the demigods = 360 Earth years
10 years of demigods = 3600 years
Sata-sankyaoh = 100 years
Yuga sandhyami – a transitional moment, ending and beginning of the period Yuga = 100 years of the demigods = 36,000 Earth years
Kali-yuga – Iron Age – 432,000 Earth years = 1200 years of the demigods
Dvapara-yuga – Copper Age – 864,000 Earth years = 2,400 demigods years
Treta-yuga – Silver Age – 1,296,000 Earth years = 3,600 demigods years
Satya Yuga – Golden Age – 1.728.000 Earth Years = 4 800 Demigods Years
Mahayuga = 4 Yugas = 1.728.000 + 1.296.000 + 864.000 + 432.000 = 4.320.000 Earth years = 12000 demigod years
Manvantara = about 72 cycles of Mahayugas (72 * 4.320 000 = 311 040 000) Period of reign of Manu = kalpa = period of manifestation of activity, life of the Universe
Kalpa = 1 day of Brahma = 4 320 000 000 = 1000 Mahayugas
In 1 day of Brahma, 14 Manus (Progenitors of Humanity) are replaced
Pralaya —4 320 000 000 Earth years = 1000 Maha yugas – the period of inactivity in the Universe, which comes after each Manvantara
1 day (12 hours) of Brahma = 4,320,000,000 Earth years
1 night (12 hours) of Brahma = 4,320,000,000 Earth years
30 (days + nights) days of Brahma = 1 month of Brahma = 259,2 billion Earth years
12 months of Brahma = 1 year of Brahma = 3,110,40 billion Earth years = 1 era
50 years of Brahma = Parardha = 155,520 billion Earth years
100 years of Brahma = life of Brahma = 311,040,000,000,000 human years
Keep in mind that, according to Vedic science, life in our universe is cyclical and each cycle consists of four periods of time. The period in which we live now is characterized by lesser mental and spiritual abilities among mankind than exhibited in the three previous ones. Speaking of the past centuries, the Vedic literature proves that in those yugas the inhabitants of our planet could build more technically advanced spaceships than ours. They also describe many different types of weapons that were both highly effective and precise at the same time; they struck only the chosen target and did not destroy what was nearby.
