Vedas on Creation of the Universe
Vedas on Creation of the Universe
Due to huge interest on this topic I recently wrote a new more detailed post “Vedas on Cosmos“.
Modern science has about 40 different concepts of cosmos, some say it is indefinite and some say it has its limits. Some believe in linear evolution and some in the presentation of all forms of beings at the same time. The Big Bang theory makes less and less sense even to many of official scientists.
The Greek word Cosmos means the order; the antonym of chaos. Cosmos means organization and harmony. Everyone knows that if we don’t take care of something it will inevitably decline. Don’t wash your clothes and they will stink, don’t dust your room and all the furniture become dirty. Who or what is so mighty that it is possible to keep the whole universe in order?
Vedic understanding is that the universe is created and maintained by personal activity. There are persons who administer the cosmic laws and control all cosmic events. Although we consider ourselves to be rulers of the universe, the reality is that human beings have very limited sensual abilities to understand the universe with our intellect.
From the Vedas we can receive the information about the hierarchy of beings in the universe and its laws. Studying these laws, one can find the true purpose of life and act in accordance with the cosmic rules. We can learn how to live in peace and harmony with ourselves, other beings, nature, and the cosmos and gradually progress to the spiritual world.
